I do believe I have solved my cooler issues. Since I put my Arctic 4 Freezer on my new processor, it has been lagging a bit, programs have been locking up randomly, and it’s been running really hot. How hot you ask? How’s a normal temperature of 158f sound?
So, I broke everything down this afternoon, and pulled the cooler off. I wiped off the crappy thermal paste they give you, and applied a nice new layer of vantec thermal paste. I also took out the power supply and made sure this cooler was a secure as it could get.
I’ve been up and running now for over an hour, and the normal operating temperature right now is 127f. That’s a decrease of almost 30 degrees! Hopefully this will end my sluggishness and random lockups.
