I just mailed out the 2017 school taxes for our farm. Why should that be so special? These are the first taxes for our farm that I have paid for out of my own pocket since my dad died. I have officially taken over. While I don’t normally like writing out large checks like that, I take comfort in knowing that because of taking over as caretaker of the Ohav Zedek cemetery, I am able to keep the farm in the family for the foreseeable future without any direct financial impact. That makes me feel good.
