Washington D.C.

Published Again

I’ve had my second photograph in 12 months used on a professional travel site. My first for a travel site called Schmap. The picture used was one I took of the Washington Monument on our trip to Washington D.C. after our wedding in 2006.

The latest is for a travel site called ‘Home & Abroad’. The picture is one I took this past summer of The Stone Pony. The thing I find most fascinating is that I never submit my pictures to sites for submission. In both cases this year, the site’s admins have contacted me and asked for permission to use my pictures. The same was true back in 2006 when CNN contacted me about using one of my flood pictures.

I’ve always liked photography, but just considered it a hobby. It’s cool when you get recognized for something that you enjoy doing.

Schmap Baltimore Fifth Edition

About a month ago I got an email saying that on of my photos that I took while Jess and I were in Washington D.C. was selected as a finalist for inclusion in the Schmap Baltimore Fifth Edition.

Funny…I never entered any of my photos in any contest.

As it turns out, they found my photo, which was pretty cool. I checked out the site and it seems like a pretty cool concept. What it basically is is a map site that will show you actual photos of points of interest.

Well, today I get another email that a photograph I took of the Washington Monument made it into the Schmap Baltimore Fifth Edition. Here’s some linkage to the Washington Monument section where my photo is.

While it’s not that big of a deal, I think it’s pretty cool. Jess as always encouraged me to pursue my hobby of photography a little more then I have. After something like this, I may just have to take her advice.
